Weekend photos: Teddy Roosevelt Island

This panel included some nice TR quotes about Nature:
  • There is delight in the hardy life of the open.
  • The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased and not impaired in value.
  • Conservation means development as much as it does protection.

The sculpture is by Paul Manship (also known for Prometheus at Rockefeller Center).
And yet the real highlight of the island is the series of hiking trails that cover both the upland and wetland areas of this small island in the Potomac River.
