GREs and grad schools

As interest continues to grow in our nearly-approved graduate program in landscape architecture, one question keeps coming up: "Do I need to take the GREs?" Yes. Every applicant will be required to have a GRE score. As a new program we don't know quite what to expect as an average score but I do know that other programs have a hard time accepting anyone with less than a 1000 (Q+V) even if they have other qualities that stand out (like a great portfolio and/or speical work background). It is also worth noting that programs with highly competitive admissions processes (which we hope to have soon enough) see numbers like a 1200 as being pretty marginal.

So, make sure you take your GRE. But also make sure that you prepare for you GRE. Taking it blind rarely works out well.
